From very early on in my life, it was clear that my life was not meant to conform to the traditionally accepted norms of society. For better AND worse, rebellion is a legacy that is a part of my expression of life, for which I am grateful.
In just a few short days, NaNoWriMo will begin, and this is my first time participating in this community building, confidence boosting, method of keeping wily writers like myself on task. When I first heard of NaNoWriMo, my excitement was quickly dashed by the rules: No Non-Fiction Allowed! Yet, as I really liked the concept, I decided to look for non-fiction alternatives and found a great group of rebels on the forums within NaNoWriMo – Non-Fiction Rebels.
Since committing to the task of putting my soul’s path into words, words to be shared, no less, I’ve experienced bouts of freezing fear, expansive excitement, and insightful inspiration. This is something I’ve thought about and resisted for years, and now, I’m finally doing it!
I plan to use this blog for short posts here and there between now and the time the book is complete, the first draft of which is scheduled to be edit-ready on 12-12-12. Yes, NaNo has rules…but I’ve got my own drum to beat.
